Right to Choose
We understand that choosing the right service matters. With Right to Choose, you are in control of where you receive your ADHD assessment and treatment and we are here to provide accessible, high-quality care wherever you are in England.
Please note: Right to Choose gives you the right to choose an eligible provider; it does not guarantee a particular waiting time. Waiting times may vary depending on the commissioning arrangements of the ICB responsible for funding your care.
What is Right to Choose?
If you live in England and are registered with a GP, you have a legal Right to Choose your healthcare provider for your first ADHD outpatient appointment under the NHS Constitution.
This means you are not limited to services in your local area. You can ask your GP to refer you to a provider of your choice, including Leeds GP Confederation, even if you live outside West Yorkshire.

What does this mean for ADHD assessments and medication?
If you are seeking an adult ADHD assessment and your local waiting times are long, you can request a referral to our specialist ADHD service under Right to Choose.
You can do this, as long as:
- You are registered with an NHS GP in England
- Your referral is for your first outpatient appointment for this condition
- The service is commissioned to provide NHS care
Why choose Leeds GP Confederation for ADHD services?
Your GP can refer you to us, regardless of where you live.
Our adult ADHD service offers:
- Comprehensive, evidence-based assessments
- Experienced clinicians specialising in adult ADHD
- Medication titration and ongoing prescribing support (where clinically appropriate)
- Clear communication with you and your GP
- Remote appointments for patients across England
